Botanicals Over Burnout

Botanicals Over Burnout

When I first began learning about herbal tea, I stumbled across something that completely shifted my perspective. Many of the same herbs I was researching could also be enjoyed as smoking blends. That discovery sparked a much bigger question for me.

Why do we smoke?

The more I observed, the more I realized that many people weren’t just smoking because they enjoyed it. They were reaching for something to quiet their thoughts, soften difficult emotions, or escape what they didn’t yet know how to face.

What if the ritual looked different?

Instead of rolling up whatever was available and hoping the feeling disappeared, what if we paused first? What if we asked ourselves what we were carrying before we ever reached for a lighter?

That’s the philosophy behind my herbal blends.

I don’t see ritual as something mystical or complicated. We already practice it every day. We make soup for someone we love when they’re sick. We brew tea to unwind. We light candles to create a certain atmosphere. Intention is simply deciding what you want a moment to mean.

For me, herbal smoking became another opportunity to practice intention.

One of my goals in creating these blends is to encourage people who already smoke cannabis to explore using more herbs alongside it. My hope is that, over time, someone realizes they may not need as much as they once believed. Sometimes what we’re really craving isn’t more. Sometimes we’re craving a different experience altogether.

Every blend begins with herbs I’ve taken the time to understand. I research them, experience them for myself, and thoughtfully consider how they feel together before I ever share them with anyone else. Curiosity has always been part of who I am, and I believe learning should come before teaching.

Some of my favorite botanicals include rose, mullein, and lavender. I enjoy rose for the sense of beauty and care it brings to a ritual. Mullein has long been appreciated in traditional herbal practices, particularly among those interested in respiratory wellness. Lavender adds a familiar feeling of calm and comfort. Together, they create an experience that encourages you to slow down and become more present.

When I enjoy an herbal blend, I like to pair it with moments that invite reflection. I’ll sit outside and watch the trees move with the wind. I’ll listen to an album that makes me feel something. Sometimes I’ll journal. Sometimes I’ll simply notice what’s happening in my body instead of trying to change it.

I often ask myself simple questions.

What am I feeling right now?

What am I avoiding?

What am I ready to release?

I believe those questions are far more interesting than any conversation about getting high.

The greatest mystery isn’t somewhere out in the universe. It’s within us.

My hope is that these blends encourage you to become curious about yourself. Not because herbs have all the answers, but because creating space for yourself often reveals answers that were already there.

Slowing down has taught me that our world constantly asks us to consume more. More content. More opinions. More distractions. More noise.

But sometimes the most meaningful thing we can do is the opposite.

Slow down.

Breathe deeply.

Listen closely.

You may discover that what you’ve been searching for wasn’t another escape. It was simply a moment to reconnect with yourself.
